I returned back to the Moor to take some more photographs. I was faced with a misty and damp afternoon which I have not photographed in yet for this project. I like shooting Dartmoor in the mist, it emphasises the characteristics of the moor and makes you feel very small when you are surrounded in the wet white clouds of mist. Usually, when I am shooting digitally, I shoot the camera from hand and do no use a tripod. For this shoot, I wanted to take the time to get my compositions so I took a tripod out with me. As I was slowing down the process, I captured three photographs that I think have meaning around the idea of escaping into silence. All three images hold simplicity and negative space in different ways. When I edited these images, I placed the black and white preset that I have created from this body of work. The original images were shot slightly unexposed so I upped the exposure in the images. In comparison to the photographs that I have shot on 120 film, these digital images hold much more contrast. In my final piece. I can see these images being at the beginning of the series as the contrast sits next to the idea of messy thoughts. As the imagery becomes software this should take my viewer to the inner peace that I am conveying in my work.
