After my previous Moorland shoot, I decided to go back to the coast in order to find some inspiration. When I am going out I am not going out with a plan, I am taking in my environment and the photos I make are inspired by the space that I am in. I went down to Noss Mayo and joined the South West Coastal path. A part of the path that I have not been to before which made new exploring. It was a pretty grey and windy day which made very flat light for taking photographs. I did, however, feel at peace in the space that I was in and managed to capture photographs of my environment.
Here is the selection of photographs that I took on my short journey. The coastal path is a great place to take photographs of the ever-changing sea. The weather was different from the previous time I shot similar photographs which will create a nice contrast in a series of images. I am keeping the black and white edit as well as maintaining to shoot on 50mm. I think that this is one of the simplest forms of photography which does not distract the viewer from the aesthetic of the photographs.
I think that this is the best shot that I captured. The boat on the horizon line gives the image perspective and subsequently makes the viewer feel small. If this was printed to large size I think it would be easy for the viewer to get lost in the seascape. This creates the feeling of being lost and alone in the image. Just the viewer and the boat. This mist faints the definition of the vessel which also invited them to focus harder on the center point of the image.
I have been struggling with working out how I am conveying my message and if I am doing it effectively. I think that going forward I need to go back to the route of the project, find some new research and go forward with some stronger and more connected images.
