For this shoot, I decided to change the scenery and head up onto the moors. This is because I have spent much time escaping onto the moors to hike, camp and make photography. In the time that I spent on the moors, my aim is to shoot some self-portraits as well as images of the land that I am in. The reason for shooting self-portraits is that the work that I am making is a personal response to how I currently feel about the world and I want that to be clearly expressed. I am starting to think that I will display this body of work in a book and I would like one strong self-portrait at the beginning to introduce the idea behind my visual exploration. Therefore as well as creating the content for the book, over the coming weeks I plan on capturing self-portraits when location shooting.

Overall, I am not that please with how this shoot turned out. However, I do think that I am beginning to make some strong self-portraits. The first idea that I wanted to explore on the moor was making an image that of a tent set up, in a large landscape, shot at night. For logistical reason, I was unable to capture this idea. I did, however, capture some photographs of the landscape that I was walking in along my way. I am happy with a few of the image technically, but I am still not too sure how I am going to fit them into this body of work. I am hoping as my ideas develop over the next few shoots, it will become clear how I am going top structure and display this body of work.

This is my favourite shot from this journey. This view fell in front of me after climbing over the brow of a hill. The light fell on the land perfectly to highlight the valley in the centre of the image. It is not that often on the moors when the horizon line is pretty much a straight line which gives a satisfying linear effect to the image. There are many lines within the image that takes the viewer in every direction possible around the photograph both in the foreground and background. This image also draws the viewer in with its distinct use of the rule of thirds which increases the stimulus of the eye to the centre of the image.
At this stage of the project, I have decided to move my edits into black and white. I have done this to simplify the images and allow the viewer to focus on the land and not collect stimulus from the colours within. Thinking about what I want to achieve from this series of images has made me want to create a meditative stimuli. I want the images to make the audience feel at peace and at one with the location that I have shot my images. This is me transferring the inner peace that I have on location to an audience.
