Leading on from the idea of escaping, I wanted to create a more literal response to the idea. Doing this, I created a video of a young male running through the woods. It is up to the viewer's interpretation to determine whether he is running away or being chased. I wanted to give the perception of being chased however I think that it is open to interpretation.
The video was filmed on my Sony A7, without any image stabilisation which left the short video with a rushed and horror like effect. I think that this is then enforced with the black and white edit that I put over the moving images. With the dramatic music that I placed behind it, I think it puts the viewer on their toes and builds adrenaline towards the situation they are watching.
Moving image is not something that I have much experience in so I had fun experimenting with it and may take it further with me into this project. I could use it to support the work that I am shooting in order to build further context around the metaphors and narrative of my images.
At this point in the project I am experimenting with ideas and mediums in which I make my work. Going forward I will do further research into “escapism” and work out how I can metaphorically explain my thoughts through my photography.
