For this shoot, I returned to the Moor with my Sony A7 and Mamiya 7 to photograph the silence in the landscape. I wanted to capture the negative space that reflects the moments of peace and solitude found when I am hiking across the landscape. I went up to the North Moor for this trek, it is more barren than the South Moor which most of my photographs have been taken on so far. This space is larger and more empty which allows the feeling of solitude to be found very easy.
This shoot was a bit of a test for me as it will be the first time that I develop the film myself at home. Therefore I am not expecting to capture any truly amazing photographs as I want to make sure that I have set everything up correctly before heading out again and refining my images.

The Developing Process

Scanned Images

As you can see these are the photographs that I shot, developed and scanned at home. The process was no different from the one that I would have used when processing film in uni so I am happy to say that it all worked. I was a little apprehensive about the ratios of the developing chemicals which Is why I wanted to use this as a test role to make sure that everything was working before I go out and shoot more rolls of film. One thing that I struggled with when shooting these images was battling the wind. It was very windy as I was primarily hiking across ridge-lines. The cold winter air was making my eyes water so focusing some of the photographs were a little hard...something I have not really experienced when taking photographs before.
With the outcome of these photographs, I feel confident with going out and shooting more rolls of film and using the same process to develop them. My next plan is to take a few days out in my van so that I can finish shooting the photographs for this project.
