Sequencing my images has been a bit of a task as I want to make sure I am conveying my message in a way that the viewer can connect with. I started the sequence off with the most punchy images with a high amount of contrast to grab the attention of the viewer. The first few images are simple, and all share a large amount of negative space. I think this introduces the idea of silence as I feel negative space breaks the image up into sections that the speak about different idea. The single toned skies represent a silence, there is nothing going on in that part of the image, it is a space where the viewer can reflect on the connection that they have with the sea, land and sky.
We then move through the sequence and into the middle where the photographs get a little bit more lively. I think these photographs represent the greatness of the natural world that fascinates my exploration. The light emphasises parts of beauty and creates focal points in the imagery whereas the images before do not have this effect. I have placed these images in the middle to create a crescendo of interest whereby the viewer is drawn into the land and its complexity. Rocks and land formations are captured to imply the power of the natural world which subdues a feeling of being much smaller than the world around us. For me, this is where I feel alive, it is the natural world that I seek help from, answers are found that have no influence from the superficial.
Finally, we move to the end of the series which concludes the idea of silence within the night’s sky. I looked up to a 360-degree view of silence. A view which is accessible every night wherever you are. One that you can connect with on a daily basis without having to go far from home. I found true silence and entertainment in the fluctuating sky which is why I have concluded the sequence with images fading into the night’s sky.
