This is a CV that I put together at the beginning of last summer. I had been applying for jobs with a rather basic CV that did not look that great. I then spent an afternoon on Photoshop and created this rather funky looking CV. And it worked!!! The first job that I applied for with this CV I got...I definitely think that it draws people into the information on the page and makes you stand out from the crowd.

I’ll be honest...I don’t think I will ever have to write a photographic CV to send to an employer as I can never see myself applying for a photographic job at a company. Though when I get more work into competitions, publications, etc then I will begin to build up an artist CV which I will display on my website. The photographic work that I want to work on is freelance and I think that my portfolio speaks for itself as it gets me jobs at the moment here and there I think with a bit of marketing I would be able to get the work. However, this does not mean I do not think that it is important to have a CV at the ready if and when I might need to apply for a job here and there which is why I do take the time to keep mine up to date.

In the ever-changing world, I also think that Instagram is a great portfolio/ CV that can draw future clients into what you are doing. There are many “Instagram Photographers” out there who gain a lot of attention from their beautiful single colour/ tone feeds with beautiful Photoshop and Lightroom presets on them. This gets the work as they have hundreds of thousands of followers which is a sign of their influence as well for companies and clients.
This is also something I know I need to work on for myself. Instagram is a powerful tool and I do not use it enough...mainly because I am not a massive fan of it...however I know that it is a necessary evil in helping me build an audience for myself which in the future will help sell prints and books to an audience!
